Steve House an der MS Virgental
„Steve House is a well-known American mountain guide and professional extreme mountaineer. He was born on August 4th 1970 in Oregon / USA. House is known for his exceptional mountaineering achievements and contributions to the climbing community. Already in his childhood he spent a lot of time in the nature and discovered his passion for climbing at an early age. In 1981, he made his first mountain tour to Mount Hood. At the age of 18, he finished high school, from that point on it got serious. Then he studied ecology and completed the eight-year education as a mountain guide as the seventh American ever. Over the years, House made many significant ascents in different mountain ranges worldwide, including the Himalayas, Alaska and the Karakoram. Very remarkable was his rapid rise of the Rupal Face to Nanga Parbat in Pakistan in 2005. This achievement brought him great recognition in the mountaineering world. In April 2010, Steve survived a tragic climbing accident at Mount Temple in the Canadian Rockies, he fell 25 meters into the depths and suffered life-threatening injuries. After his accident, he began to see his life differently. He also started a mentoring project and wrote several successful books with which he wants to pass on his knowledge. Steve House is also co-founder of the climbing company uphillathlete.com, which specializes in training and coaching for mountain sports. I find it remarkable that he retains his passion for climbing even despite his serious accident.“ (Berger Marie 4b)
